On December 6, 2025, the sixth Sichuan Provincial Korean Studies Academic Forum, themed "Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning between China and South Korea from a Regional and Country Perspective," was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan. The forum aimed to facilitate research discussions on topics including Sino-Korean educational studies, cross-cultural innovation research, new ecosystems of international communication, the cultural connections between Bashu and Korea, and the building of a Sino-Korean academic community. Yan Yuanzai, Consul General of the Republic of Korea at the Consulate General in Chengdu, and Zhang Haidong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan Normal University, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Jiang Liuhua, Vice Chairman of the Headquarters of Joymin Group (China Region), President of Zhongqiao Group, and Chairman of the Longquanyi District Overseas Chinese Association in Chengdu, also attended the event and spoke. More than 50 scholars and experts from research institutions and universities in both China and South Korea participated in the forum.
In his speech, Chairman Jiang Liuhua highly affirmed the convening of this forum. He pointed out that cultural exchanges among different countries from a regional and country-specific perspective are not only an important theme in the evolution of human civilization but also a core issue for China's regional and country-specific studies in addressing contemporary challenges. Civilizational exchange and mutual learning serve as a vital driving force for advancing human civilization and promoting world peace and development, as well as an objective requirement for the coexistence of diverse civilizations. He advocated establishing a civilizational outlook characterized by equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness, emphasizing the principle of "harmony in diversity and coexistence through integration." He expressed hope that through this forum, broader and deeper exchanges would be facilitated to continuously deepen cultural interactions between China and South Korea, making new and greater contributions to fostering friendship and common development between the peoples of both countries!
The forum featured keynote speeches and roundtable discussions, focusing on a wide range of topics including the innovative development path of Korean studies, the development model and insights of South Korea's museum industry, the dissemination of archetypes from Six Dynasties supernatural fiction in Korea, explorations into Confucian governance strategies for border regions during the Goryeo Dynasty (10th–12th centuries), common challenges and regulatory innovations in AI applications for vocational education across China, Japan, and South Korea, as well as urban image promotion in Korea and its applications in Sichuan. The insightful presentations and research findings shared by participants not only highlighted recent advancements in Korean studies but also contributed valuable expertise to advancing high-quality development of Korean studies in Sichuan, enhancing the discipline's influence, and playing a significant role in fostering innovation and growth in talent cultivation models for this field.
Chairperson Jiang Liuhua stated that, as a hub connecting the cultures, intellects, and emotions of people from various countries, the Longquanyi District Overseas Chinese Federation in the new era will continue to actively serve as a bridge and link. Through diverse channels and formats, it will create platforms and provide services to promote cultural exchanges between nations, including those between China and South Korea. The Federation will focus on establishing cultural exchange platforms by organizing various activities such as cultural exhibitions, language training programs, and artistic performances; inviting cultural figures from around the world to visit China to foster mutual understanding and bridge cultural gaps; hosting various social events to strengthen emotional bonds; coordinating resources to support and fund cultural exchange initiatives; thereby leveraging the power of culture to connect people worldwide and ensuring that the flower of friendship blooms even more vibrantly among all nations.
